The women’s divisions in Ultimate Fighting Championship have evolved into something completely different since their inception years ago, and it continues to evolve today. Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino has been working hard on convincing the heads of UFC to create a featherweight division for women inside the octagon, and while the demand seems to be there from fans it has not come to fruition yet.
“Cyborg” made her transition into the UFC when Leslie Smith accepted a catchweight bout with the Invicta FC Featherweight Champion. Smith was dominated and finished in less than three minutes at “UFC 198”, and “Cyborg” is already back in training for wherever her next fight may be.
“Alpha” Cat Zingano also impressed in her return at “UFC 200” despite coming up short of getting the win. She shook off whatever ring rust was on her and will impress in her next outing; Zingano and “Cyborg” seem to be planning to pair up for an upcoming training session where iron will sharpen iron!
