Earlier in the week, Michael Bisping said on his podcast that Georges St-Pierre might have needed to “clear the steroids out of his system,” causing the delay in booking their bout. The middleweight champ also brought up the muscle mass his opponent has gained, and even went further to say that a certain “someone” he trained with told him that GSP is taking PEDs.
Those were some pretty strong statements, but when asked about it on national TV, Bisping backed off them immediately.
“So I alluded to possibly, that he was trying to get the steroids out of his system. But honestly, I don’t think it’s that,” Bisping told Conan O’Brien.
“Okay, I take that back,” he said. “Nah, I don’t (think he’s juicing). I’m doing typically what I do, just talking a little smack. I’m just trying to irritate him, which unfortunately, I have a knack for doing.”
St-Pierre has been randomly tested out-of-competition 10 times since he signed a new UFC deal and entered the testing pool. He has also long pushed for more stringent drug testing before USADA even entered the fold.
GSP will be moving up from welterweight to middleweight, and will try to take Bisping’s belt at UFC 217 this November.
