With the recent positive doping violations for high-profile fighters Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar, July has been a brutal month of bad news for the UFC.
Enter featherweight champion Conor McGregor, who wants everyone to know that he’s clean and that he’s an advocate for a clean UFC. He even went so far as to peel back the curtain Thursday to show us a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency drug test he recently took ahead of his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz on August 20.
As McGregor noted, this most recent test brings his total to 14 since USADA began administering the UFC’s program last year, making him the most tested fighter along with Holly Holm.
This is what the UFC needs at a time when the company is still reeling from the Jones and Lesnar controversies: its biggest star proudly proclaiming and proving himself as a clean fighter.
