Conor McGregor Believes Ref Robert Byrd Had It Out For Him Against Mayweather

Conor McGregor is not a man to mince words. He has a motor-mouth, and will will not hesitate to speak his mind when he feels he’s been slighted.

After some reflection on his super-fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., McGregor has become increasingly critical of the ref, Robert Byrd. He believes Byrd had it out for him and didn’t judge the fight fairly.

“Why did he not give (Mayweather) instruction? Why was he staring at me? He had a vendetta against me straight off the bat. Early exchanges in the tie up, instead of just separating he would reach around and pull me away,” McGregor told MMA Fighting’s Peter Carroll, “That takes energy away from me. I started getting – not paranoid – but I just started analyzing the whole thing a bit deeper. I felt like I got the short end of the stick here.”

McGregor is referring to the instructions at the beginning of the bout, where Byrd clearly is only giving the rules to McGregor.

“I was going to say, ‘He’s fighting as well, mate. Give him the f—ing rules,” McGregor said after the fight was over.

Do you think this is grounds for a rematch with “The Best Ever”? Another money fight for Mayweather and McGregor? Only time will tell.
