Dana White has rubbished reports Khabib Nurmagomedov could fight Conor McGregor in Russia, insisting the Irishman will face the lightweight champion in Las Vegas.
McGregor is currently wrapped up in a criminal case in Brooklyn, and the UFC will need to wait until after his assault and criminal mischief charge is resolved before booking him for a comeback fight. But, it is expected that McGregor will avoid prison time and will be allowed to resume fighting before the end of the year.
Nurmagomedov holds the title McGregor once did and is a bitter rival of the two-weight champion. McGregor attacked a bus in April, the melee which led to the assault charge, in an attempt to confront Nurmagomedov. UFC president White is desperate to have his biggest pay-per-view back in the octagon and dropped a hint about when that could be when he dismissed the prospect of McGregor fighting in Russia.
