Ronda Rousey is currently in the process of considering her options after her defeat against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 last week.
The 29-year-old was beaten in just 48 seconds; her dream of re-establishing herself as the best female in the bantamweight division left in tatters.
This was Rousey’s second successive defeat after her shock loss to Holly Holm back in November 2015 – the fight which ended her impressive unbeaten record.
The Californian released a statement a couple of days after her latest loss, telling her fans that she needed time “to reflect and think about the future”.
Her mother, meanwhile, has urged her to retire from mixed martial arts.
UFC president Dana White has told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne about what he saw when he entered her dressing room – and what he told her.
UFC Hong Kong Media Day
"I must have tears, blood and boogers all over my f—ing jacket.” he said. “I went in there and hugged her for 45 minutes. I told her, 'I love you so much, and whatever you want to do next, I got your back. You built this. This doesn't exist without you. You're the best decision I ever made.'"
Comforting words for Rousey, who was reassured by White that she is a UFC legend despite her two most-recent results.
