Flash Back : What was interesting this Week

Last Saturday, the 27th of January, we saw just how much was left in the tank of Lucas Mathysse in Inglewood as he knocked out Tewa Kiram in the 8th round to show he is still a name and a presence in this division.

In the WBA lightweight contest Jorge Linares managed a points win against Marito Gesta with an overwhelming decision and an overwhelming performance. Now he can look to either Danny Garcia or Vasyl Lomachenko…

In Latvia the first Semi Final of the cruiserweight World Boxing Super Series section between Mairis Briedis and Aleksandr Usyk lit us all up – but not in the way we had thought it would. Usyk won as predicted but by majority decision and NOT by knock down. His performance blows this whole thing wide open now and the man we thought firm favourite is suddenly talked about as being vulnerable.

Last Saturday, in Moodiesburn, Prospect Boxing were back with super lightweight Shaun McShane getting a points win against James Gorman.

We also, in Glasgow got a BIBA bill with International Masters Championship eliminator action at light heavyweight where Paddy Reilly stopped Eduard Belas in the third round.

Finally, last night, Friday the 2nd of February in Sheffield we saw the British bantamweight title go to Josh Wale who stopped Bobby Jenkinson in the 9th round.
