The Golden Globes took place last night with some of Hollywood's finest getting all dolled up for a massive party in Beverly Hills. We had the usual tears and thank you's in the acceptance speeches, with musical film La La Land taking seven awards.
But why are we reporting on it? 'Surely there was nothing sporting at the event?!' we hear no one asking. And you're right, there wasn't anything major. But Meryl Streep was awarded a lifetime achievement gong, and she used her acceptance speech to tackle a number of issues, from Donald Trump to MMA.
Yes, you read that right. While talking about how important non-American actors and actresses were to Hollywood, Streep made the following comment

Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners. If you kick 'em all out, you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts
Oof. That's a bit unnecessary. There's plenty of colour and art in MMA and Odell Beckham's boots every other week are their own form of art.
