Even though the biggest fights of the summer in “UFC 200” and “UFC 202” are behind us, it doesn’t mean that the Ultimate Fighting Championship is done announcing big-money fights.
With “UFC 205” fast approaching in November, it appears as if UFC President Dana White has decided to reward Donald Cerrone for his years of loyalty and recent dominant performances with a shot at taking out a former UFC Welterweight Champion.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto is reporting that “Cowboy” Cerrone may be stepping into the octagon to throw down with Robbie Lawler at “UFC 205”. With St-Pierre’s rumored return taking place at “UFC 206” and Ronda Rousey already ruled out of the card, this is the fight that will help create buzz for UFC’s debut in New York City.
Cerrone took to the microphone after his bout at “UFC on FOX 21” and proceeded to call out Eddie Alvarez for a shot at the UFC Lightweight Championship. Directly after that fight, he inked a new eight-fight deal with the UFC and Cerrone proceeded to tease a big fight on Joe Rogan’s “The Joe Rogan Experience”.
