Ronday Rousey hails Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas after war at UFC 223

Ronday Rousey singled out Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas for praise after the strawweights went to war in their championship fight at UFC 223.

The UFC fighters clashed in their rematch in the co-main event and fought for five brutal rounds. Namajunas retained the title she stripped from Jedrzejczyk last year after earning a narrow points victory.

The defeat is the second in a row for Jedrzejczyk, both against Namajunas, and the champion will now look to put her rivalry with the Pole to one side. Former champion Jedrzejczyk must now pick herself up again, but Rousey was hugely impressed with the two fighters.

She said: ‘So proud of Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas fighting their hearts out and representing all women and all fighters tonight. UFC is lucky to have you both.’

Rousey has moved from MMA into the WWE as she launched a career in wrestling earlier this year.

The American and former bantamweight champion has distanced herself from the UFC ever since suffering a knockout loss in December 2016. Rousey has not mentioned the UFC on social media since that defeat to Amanda Nunes and is seemingly finished with competing in MMA.
