What's the story?
After this week's episode of SmackDown Live went off the air, the members of the WWE Universe in attendance at Seattle were treated to a dark main event match between WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles.
In case you didn't know…
On the latest episode of SmackDown Live, WWE Champion Mahal called out the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar and challenged the Universal Champion to a match at Survivor Series.
The heart of the matter
The Modern Day Maharaja was left surprised when Styles entered the ring instead of the "Beast Incarnate". The Phenomenal One then went on to say that Mahal had beaten everyone on the roster except Styles.
This led to a brawl between the two, which Styles ultimately won. Mahal decided to take his complaints to General Manager Daniel Bryan who announced a match between Styles and one of the Singh Brothers.
However, Mahal got his match against AJ Styles after SmackDown Live went off the air. It was a hard-fought match which ultimately saw Mahal lose to the "Phenomenal One". Luckily for Mahal, the match was a non-title match.
Styles sealed the victory with the Phenomenal Forearm.
The "Modern Day Maharaja" seems bent on having a match against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series and it was announced earlier that Lesnar along with his advocate Paul Heyman will address the situation.
AJ Styles, on the other hand, has his eyes set on taking the WWE Championship away from the "Modern Day Maharaja". It will be interesting to see how these storylines play out.
The fact that AJ Styles is back in the WWE Championship picture is enough to make the WWE Universe excited about the title again. Styles is a superb athlete and one who deserves to have the title around his waist.
No offence to Jinder who has done a good job with what he was given, but in my opinion, the "Phenomenal One" definitely deserves the title more.
