TJ Dillashaw On Cody Garbrandt: “I’m Going To Break Him”
TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt seem destined to fight, with the bitterness between the two bantamweights growing by each passing day.
Garbrandt defeated Dominick Cruz in spectacular fashion at UFC 207 in December to claim the bantamweight crown from “The Dominator”. Almost immediately after that fight ended speculation started to emerge around who would Garbrandt’s first title defence be against, a rematch with Cruz or a bitter clash with former teammate TJ Dillashaw?
Initially, Garbrandt said he would give Cruz an immediate rematch but with the war of words between Dillashaw and Garbrandt heating up, the fight could go be awarded to the former alpha team member.
In a recent interview on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, Garbrandt went as far as to call Dillashaw “a cancer to our team” and said he has footage of knocking him out.
“I don’t mind whopping TJ’s ass. He was a cancer to our team. I’ll make the (expletive) personal too,”
“I’ll spare everybody $60 on buying the pay-per-view and put out the video of me knocking his ass out. I’m 1-0. He was saying that he made me cry in practice. That (expletive) never made me cry. I wasn’t the one looking at the ceiling knocked out,”
Dillashaw responded on Chael Sonnen’s podcast, You’re Welcome.
“He knows putting [the title] on the line against me is a very tough fight,”
“We’ve practiced a lot together, and he knows how good of a fighter I am. He knows he doesn’t want that fight, so what can you do?”
“We trained for at least a couple of years I think. It’s never all about the practices, but if we scored it, I’d definitely be the majority winner there. I would win 75 percent of the time. That’s the way I see it.”
“I know I’m in his head. Not only am I in his head, but I’m a better fighter. I’m more well-rounded and I’ve got more dangerous weapons. He’s got a hard right hand and he’s fast, but I’m going to push him and I’m going to break him.”
It is hard to see Garbrandt and Dillashaw not fighting next with the relationship between the two reaching boiling point but with Garbrandt looking for the “big money fight” next and calling out Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor, who knows what could happen
