UFC fighter shows support for the LGBTQ community at weigh-in

Mixed martial artist Nicolas Dalby expressed his love and support for LGBTQ community by proudly showing off a rainbow ‘We Are All Fighters’ shirt at his weigh-in for the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship over the weekend.

The 31-year-old Danish pro athlete remarked in a post on his Instagram that it is important for him to stand in solidarity with the community:

‘Weigh-ins for #UFCHamburg done! 170 and ready to smash Sobotta!  But it was more important for me to show my support for the #LGBTQ community . #WeAreAllOne,’ he wrote.

According to his Facebook, Dalby, who’s also a photography enthusiast, is the champion for the Cage Warriors FC Welterweight, the European MMA Welterweight, and the Fightergalla European Welterweight. Fans are elated seeing the MMA fighter’s post.

One wrote: ‘Thank you @dalbymma As a gay guy who is a fan of mma, it is great to see a top fighter showing support for the gay community, it means a lot. Good luck tonight.’

The UFC launched the ‘We Are All Fighters’ line of merchandise in July, and all proceeds will be going to the LGBTQ Center in Las Vegas.

UFC senior executive vice president Lawrence Epstein said that the league stands with LGBTQ athletes: ‘Just as it takes courage to step into the Octagon, it takes courage to stand for what you believe in—and we’re proud to stand with members of the LGBTQ community in their fight for equality.’

‘As friends and allies,’ he added. ‘Our hope is to raise awareness and help support community groups like the LGBTQ Center that directly impact LGBTQ individuals.’
