If you didn’t know already, the UFC’s color-commentator Joe Rogan is an absolute beast whose kicking prowess has seen him gain the plaudits of even the most fervent of his detractors.
Joe Rogan is, of course, a long-standing employee of the UFC, one whose excitable and colourful commentary-style has seen him reach his 20th year with the promotion in 2017. His in-depth knowledge of the martial arts has caused many to point to him as the very best in the business but what a lot of people do not know is that Rogan himself has a long and decorated history within the realms of combat sports.
Rogan holds a black-belt in Taekwondo, a black-belt Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (under Jean-Jacques Machado) as well as another black belt in Eddie Bravo’s own 10th Planet jiu-jitsu. In the past, videos have surfaced of him instructing former UFC champions (Georges St-Pierre & TJ Dillashaw) on some methods he has mastered over the years and in the 1980’s he competed as a kickboxer. In fact, he held the honour of being the Massachusetts full-contact Taekwondo champion for four consecutive years back in his day before retiring from the sport due to a fear of head-trauma.
Recently, a fan-made montage video surfaced which does a fantastic job of showcasing the 49-year-old’s ridiculous kicking technique as well as his unwavering dedication to his physical condition.
